The following decisions were reached in Lenoir County superior court in December, 2012. The presiding judge was the Hon. Paul L. Jones. Matters may be resolved as the result of a guilty plea or dismissal negotiated with the district attorney without a trial. Matters may also be resolved as the result of a trial during which the judge dismisses the case for insufficient evidence or renders a verdict of innocence or guilt. In any case in which a guilty plea or verdict is entered, sentencing is determined by the judge:

Wilbur Keesler III, careless and reckless driving, guilty, sentenced to 60 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months supervised probation.
Joshua Lassiter, larceny, guilty, sentenced to 30 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to six months supervised probation.
Eduardo Juarez-Tzapot, assault inflicting serious injury, guilty, sentenced to 75 day in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months probation.
Mark NMN Jones, possess less than 1/2 ounce of marijuana, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail. Carrying concealed weapon, guilty, sentenced to 20 days in the Lenoir County jail.
Marcus Padgette, possess with intent to sell distribute schedule II (cocaine), guilty, sentenced to 8-19 months in the Dept. of Correction.
Barbara Kay Philyaw, five counts embezzle controlled substances, two counts attempt to traffic opium by possession, guilty, issued prayer for judgement /continued for further orders on Jan. 18.
LoAnn Hardison, embezzle controlled substances by employee, attempt to traffic by possession, guilty, issued prayer for judgement/continued for further orders on Jan. 18.
Timothy Hardison, attempt to traffic opium by possession, driving while impaired, guilty, issued prayer for judgement/continued for further orders on Jan. 18.
Michael Benson, simple assault, guilty, issued prayer for judgement.
Billy Murrell, obtain property by false pretense, guilty, sentenced to 6-17 months in the Dept. of Correction.
Dontraz Herring, possess marijuana, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months probation. Carry concealed weapon, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail (consecutive). Assault law enforcement officer, guilty, sentenced to 75 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 18 months probation.
Shenika Sutton, assault with a deadly weapon, guilty, sentenced to 60 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months supervised probation. Hit/run, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months supervised probation. Resit/delay, communicating threats, guilty, sentenced to 30 days in the Lenoir County jail.
Kyliel Wade, obstruction of justice, pleaded no contest, sentenced to 6-8 months in the Dept. of Correction.
Bernard NMN Baker, possess stolen goods, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 24 months supervised probation.
Marquez Yates, breaking/entering, 6-17 months in the Dept. of Correction. Possess with intent to sell/distrubte marijuana, guilty, sentenced to 4-14 months in the Dept. of Correction.
David NMN Melton, obtain property by false pretense, guilty, sentenced to 8-19 months in the Dept. of Correction.
Porfino Mendoza, driving while impaired (level 4), guilty, sentenced to 120 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to six months supervised probation. Driving while license revoked, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail, suspended to 12 months supervised probation.
Mason NMN Quinn, breaking and entering, guilty, sentenced to 5-15 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 36 months supervised probation.
Jaquan Koonce, financial card theft, guilty, sentenced to 5-15 months in the Dept. of Correction, suspended to 24 months supervised probation.
Raekwon Bryant, (age 14 at time of offenses; now 16), case was transferred from juvenile court to superior court. Common law robbery, guilty. Conspiracy to commit murder, guilty. Accessory after the fact/murder, guilty. Issued prayer for judgement pending further court orders.
Lamar Brown, larceny, guilty, sentenced to 120 days in the Lenoir County jail.
Jaquan Maye, larceny of firearm, guilty, sentenced to 6-17 months in the Dept. of Correction. Breaking/entering motor vehicle, three counts breaking/entering motor vehicle, guilty, sentenced to four consecutive terms of 6-17 months in the Dept. of Correction.
Terrell Gardner, financial card fraud, guilty, sentenced to 45 days in the Lenoir County jail.
