First 2013 baby inducted into Cradle Crowd

Janyla Lenise Foye, born Jan. 1, 2013, in the Lenoir Memorial Hospital Family Birth Center, is the newest member of the Cradle Crowd, a special way to commemorate the birth of a child or grandchild.

A satin silver medallion etched with the actual footprint, name and date of birth of the infant is made for the new Cradle Crowd member. The footprint is displayed on the Cradle Crowd wall in the Family Birth Center reception area. Proceeds enhance newborn services and equipment at the hospital.

In commemoration of being the first baby born in the Family Birth Center in 2013, the Lenoir Memorial Foundation presented Janyla with her footprint as a gift.

Hospital offers infant CPR training

“Saving Baby’s Life…When Every Second Counts” is an instructional DVD designed to educate parents and infant caregivers on how to perform infant CPR and what to do for a choking infant. This class does not provide a certification but will provide the knowledge needed to perform infant CPR through observing an instructional video.

This learning tool was developed by Geraldine Hickey, registered nurse and founder of Baby Zone and Beyond. The DVD uses the newly revised 2010 American Heart Association guidelines for infant CPR.

Session times are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays in the Lenoir Memorial Hospital Minges Wellness Center. For more information, or to sign up for a 30-minute segment, call Gail Carraway during those hours at 252-522-7014.
