A local National Guardsman is facing charges of beating a pregnant woman.
Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jason Pattison, 32, at the N.C. Army National Guard facility on Dobbs Farm Road in Kinston Friday afternoon. He’s charged with assault on a female, battery of an unborn child, assault inflicting serious injury and child abuse. Each charge is a misdemeanor.
Early Monday morning, a report on the website of WITN-TV 7 said Pattison may have a connection to Lenoir County law enforcement. The post was later removed.
“It has been reported that Pattison had some sort of ties back to Lenoir County law enforcement,” LCSO Chief Deputy Chris Hill said in a statement emailed to media shortly before 11 a.m. “To my knowledge, Pattison has no ties to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office.”
Kinston Department of Public Safety spokesman Woody Spencer said the name is “not familiar at all” at KDPS.
A LinkedIn profile shows Pattison is a supply sergeant with the 690th Maintenance Battalion and a Grifton resident.
LCSO deputies held Pattison at the Lenoir County Jail without bond before transferring him to the Pitt County Detention Center Saturday. He posted a $5,500 bond the next day. The charges relate to a Pitt County incident.
Pattison is due in Pitt County District Court on April 26.
