The first search warrant executed on a Greene County residence could have stopped alleged drug activity there – it didn’t.

Late Friday night, Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Wayne Bobbitt, 48, and Geraldine Coppedge, 50, at the house they share at 232 Meadow Drive in Snow Hill.

Deputies seized 12.7 grams of marijuana, 3 grams of crack cocaine and 1.5 grams of cocaine from the couple’s shared bedroom. Bobbitt was placed in Greene County Jail on $100,000 bond and Coppedge received an $80,000 bond.

According to GCSO Detective James Hinson, Bobbitt had been arrested several months ago in Enfield, and Coppedge was taken into custody in Greene County a few months ago, as well. There had been one search carried out at the house, but the investigation continued after Hinson and Detective Charles Boyette received additional information on the matter.

“We continued making controlled buys of marijuana and crack cocaine from (Bobbitt’s) residence,” Hinson said. “After a month or so of making buys, we did a search warrant on the 28th and found crack cocaine and marijuana.”

Bobbitt faces four counts of felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, four counts of felony maintaining a dwelling to keep or sell a controlled substance, two counts of felony possession of cocaine, one count of felony possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana, one count of felony conspiracy to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, one count of conspiracy to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Coppedge has two counts of felony possession of cocaine, and one count each of the following felonies: possession with intent to sell or distribute cocaine, possession with intent to sell or distribute marijuana, conspiracy to sell a Schedule II controlled substance, conspiracy to sell a Schedule VI controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling to keep or sell a controlled substance.

“We’ve done two search warrants on this residence, and both times found drugs, so we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do to stop it,” Hinson said.

Both suspects are due in Greene County District Court on Jan. 11.
