Raven is a Weimaraner /Labrador mix about a year old.
She graduated from New Leash on Life program Feb. 13. She has completed 10 weeks of basic obedience training, is up to date on shots and heart worm prevention, and has been spayed. She gets along great with older children and is ready to join a loving family.

Student named to honor roll
Carrington Wooten has been named to the first semester honor roll at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh.
To be eligible, she maintained a weighted grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in at least five academic courses while maintaining the status of a student in good standing with the Judicial Board and administration.
Wooten is an 11-grader and is the daughter of Elizabeth and Robin Wooten of Kinston.
Saint Mary’s is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory girls boarding and day school dedicated to academic excellence and personal achievement for grades nine through 12.
Indoor yard sale open to community
The Woman’s Auxiliary of Westside Free Will Baptist Church will host a community-wide indoor yard/garage sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6 in the church’s Family Life Center, 1205 Lynn Drive, near Bill Fay Park in Kinston.
Individuals or organizations that need to get rid of unneeded stuff and raise money for projects can rent a 10 x 10 vendor space with one table for $25. Vendors will receive profits from the items they sell. The climate-controlled building has food from the kitchen available for a nominal fee, and other facilities close by.
Doors will open for set up from 4 to 6 p.m. April 5 or at 6 a.m. April 6. Doors will be open to the public to buy items from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6. ‘Ms. Wheelchair’ seeks contestants
The Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina Pageant is seeking contestants for its 2013 competition, to be held April 6 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Asheville.
The pageant showcases the accomplishments and achievements of women who utilize wheelchairs for their daily mobility. Judging is on personal accomplishments and achievements since the onset of their disability, communication skills, participation in peer and civic groups, public relation skills, advocacy for persons with disabilities, self-confidence, motivation, initiative and creativity.
The pageant’s mission is to increase opportunities in housing, employment, education and socio-economic issues. The winner will become the official spokeswoman for the disability community throughout North Carolina and represent the state at the national Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant.
