Warm temperatures last Sunday brought the Kinston Aero Modelers, a remote control aircraft club, outside for its monthly meeting.
“If the weather is nice, we try to meet here,” club president Robert McGaughy said about meeting at their outdoor location.
This is the third year the club, which has around 40 members, has been flying behind Lenoir Crossing shopping center on Airport Road. They were previously located on Hull Road.
The Kinston Aero Modelers are planning a Mother’s Day Fly In for Saturday, May 11 that will be open to the public. The family event will feature propeller planes, jets and helicopters. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Spectators are always welcome to watch pilots fly their planes.
“Saturday and Sunday are the biggest days, but now that the time has changed, more people will be flying during the week,” McGaughy said.
