STAGES!/Kinston

Stages! will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today and Friday at the Kinston-Lenoir County Performing Arts Center, Kinston High School campus. Performances showcase fine arts talents of students in Lenoir County Schools. Today: Northeast, Pink Hill and Banks elementary and Pre-K program; Kinston High band and chorus, North Lenoir High School chorus, Rochelle Middle School, South Lenoir High School band and Frink Middle School band. Friday: Contentnea-Savannah Middle band  and Elementary chorus; Northwest,  Southwood, La Grange, Moss Hill and Southeast elementary schools; North Lenoir band and South Lenoir chorus; and Woodington Middle School chorus. Tickets are $5 in advance — available at the Chamber through today — or $7 at the door.

 

MARCH MADNESS KARATE/Kinston

The Little Union Academy of Martial Arts’ 10th annual March Madness Open Karate Championship will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kinston High School Gymnasium. The tournament features all martial arts styles and welcomes children and adults in competition. Entrance for spectators is $5. Face painting and a coloring station will be part of the family event. GOSPEL FEST/Kinston

Lenoir County’s Veterans Challenge Gospel Fest will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the former Expressions/Brody’s building at Vernon Park Mall, 834 Hardee Road. General tickets are $6, $5 for active military and veterans, and free for children 12 and younger, at IFIXNC, Veterans Challenge Office, or at the door. Performers: Living Waters Praise Team, Wings of Joy, Gospel Crusaders, Lessette Kornegay, Clay Johnson & the Gospel Sounds with Ronnie Heinz, EnterAction, Yaheveh Concept, Shacky D, Crystal Cheyenne with Faith & Deliverance Church choir, and Gospel Visionaires with Frank Roberson and Lloyd Dove.
