Library to host juvenile author
Author Jerel Law will be at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library today to sign books and present a program at Book Chatter, a book club for children 12 years old and younger. Law will present his book, “Fire Prophet,” from 4 to 5 p.m. and be available to answer questions and sign books until 6 p.m.
Law is a writer of Christian juvenile fiction. He began his series, “Son of Angels,” primarily for his own children. While they enjoyed fantasy and ancient mythological books, Law instead was compelled to write for his middle-grade audiences stories that are centered on the unique set of truths found in the Bible.
The story of Jonah Stone and his family was born out of that goal. The “Son of Angels” series is packed with adventure, action and supernatural conflicts; but the message is solidly scriptural. “Fire Prophet” is the third book in the series. It begins one year after Jonah Stone and his sister, Eliza, discover that their mother is half human, half fallen angel.
When the siblings are attacked by fallen angels at school, they learn that being separated from their parents is the only way to be safe and prepare to win a massive battle between good and evil.
Law is a communicator and pastor with 17 years of fulltime ministry experience. He holds his undergraduate degree from UNC and a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. “Spirit Fighter” is his first novel, and Part One of the “Jonah Stone: Son of Angels” series, published by Thomas Nelson.
