Madison Beyer went 2-for-3 as South Lenoir’s softball team knocked off county rival North Lenoir, 5-1, at home on Wednesday.
Haley Daniels was 2-for-2 and Madison Herring added two hits for the Blue Devils, who scored three runs in the first inning.
Taylor Sandlin earned the win with Beyer picking up the save. Kaci Letchworth gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four in the loss.
Liz Deal, Megan Lanier, Nicole Robinson and Kamryn Woodward had a hit each for North Lenoir.
South Lenoir (5-2) travels to Swansboro on Friday while North Lenoir (1-5) hosts Southern Wayne.
GIRLS SOCCER
SOUTH LENOIR 3, SPRING CREEK 0: At South Lenoir, the Blue Devils picked up a non-conference win.
Maecy Croom opened the scoring on an assist from Kristin Wright, then Wright added the final two goals unassisted. Keeper Kelly Boom had six saves in the shutout.
The Blue Devils (3-3-1) travel to Swansboro on Friday.
BOYS GOLF
PARROTT WINS NON-LEAGUE MATCH: At River Landing Golf Club, the Patriots downed Wilmington Cape Fear Academy with a team score of 302.
Riley Davis shot a 73 for medalist honors. Wes Simmons and Matt Simmons shot 75s, while Jack Sides carded a 79 for Parrott (10-0), which resumes EPIC play at Henderson Country Club on Monday.
BASEBALL
BETHEL CHRISTIAN 18, GREENVILLE CHRISTIAN 8, 6 INN.: At Greenville, the Trojans earned an NCCSA win on Tuesday.
Tyler Antwine went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Hunter Truett was 2-for-2 and scored three runs and Luke Stalnaker went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice.
Ben Potter went the distance, giving up eight runs on 10 hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
The Trojasn (3-3, 2-0) host Raleigh Christian on Monday.
