According to the Kinston Dept. of Public Safety, four Kinston High School students were charged with misuse of a 911 system on Monday.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 22 in which the Lenoir County 911 Center received multiple calls referencing a shooting that was occurring on the campus of Kinston High School. These calls were found to be false and were originating from Kinston High School.
The KDPS also believes these individuals to be responsible for false threats that were called in to South Lenoir High School on the same day. The investigation is continuing with more charges pending.
Those charged were Jaquell Lawson, 16, Alexis Whitfield, 16, along with two juveniles who are both 15-years-old.
Lawson & Whitfield were charged with misdemeanor misuse of a 911 system and issued a $500 bond. The juvenile suspects have been served with juvenile petitions.
