The following restaurant inspection results were provided by the Lenoir County Health Department:
 
Bojangles
7858 U.S. 70 W., La Grange
Score: 97.5
Inspection date: 2/8
 
Observations:
 
Pan of fried chicken discarded; temperature was below 135F.
Several wiping cloths out on little table near biscuit prep area. They were removed to either be laundered or placed in sanitizer. Sanitizer strength in one bucket was not strong enough. This was corrected.
Some cleaning needed - drip pans under fountain and drink dispenser, refrigerator shelves, backside of refrigerator door handles, bottom of freezer.
Need trash cans at hand-sinks where disposable towels are used for drying hands.

Observations:
 
Remember to wash hands properly after having break/snack. 
Date mark items - ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food that will be kept in refrigerator more than 24hrs.
Food items that are removed from original package needs to be identified with common name.
Effective hair restraints required.
Need to keep trash can at hand-sinks.
Need to have trash can w/lid in ladies room.

Observations:
 
Observed one cup w/beverage in it sitting above raw burger fridge. Appeared to be for an employee; it did not have a cover or straw.
Hand-washing sink at pick-up window is barely accessible; too much equipment around it.
Hand-washing sinks shall be equipped to provide water at least 100F.
Warming drawer #2 is not maintaining food at 135F or above. Grilled chicken breasts and baked potatoes were discarded.
Pan of sliced tomatoes was 47F; container of raw burgers was 47F. These were different refrigerator units. Staff was not sure when tomatoes were sliced.
One pot of chili had been marked w/time cooked and time "off" but had actually not been cooked.
Pans or buckets of sanitizer need to be labeled properly.
Any employee handling food (including scooping ice/fixing beverages)...no jewelry is to be worn on fingers or wrists except for a plain band. This means no watches or bracelets either.
Duct tape on part of main prep fridge and melted/bad repair spots on rolling carts; coating coming off racks in walk-in cooler.
Wash solution not maintaining 110F.
Need to clean - refrigerator racks, three-compartment sink, prep tabel, many outer surfaces of equipment like controls/gauges, door handles.
Need to make sure you have a back flow preventer on both faucets at service/dump area (drain in floor near hot water heater area)...you have one but need this back flow preventer on each faucet if keeping 'Y' hose attached.
Hand-washing sinks in kitchen need better cleaning.
Need a trash can at each hand-sink where disposable towels are used.
Floor needs regrouting in some areas.
Floor, wall, ceilings - cleaning needed.
 
 
Queen Street Deli & Bakery

Observations:
 
Potato salad and pasta salad in chill pans range from 78-102F. Tuna salad, chicken salad, pasta salad, potato salad in prep fridge and two-drawer refrigerator from 49-91F.
Flat-leaf lettuce stored in top of prep refrigerator above flow of cold air. 
Chicken breasts cooling at room temperature waiting for prep. Refrigerate to cool. Pasta salad, potato salad, tuna salad made within the hour are stored in chill pans and/or thick, covered layers in refrigerator.
You may need additional refrigerators or freezers for approved cooling of salads such as potato, tuna, pasta, etc.
One of two stem-type thermometers is not accurate.
Wet wiping cloth stored on counter.
Three bins of clean utensils are soiled with crumbs, from spills, etc.
Single service items are stored in contact with personal garments.
Waste receptacle in ladies restroom is not covered.

Lettuce draining at room temperature is 54F..
Few foods have not been date marked.
Bucket of sanitizer is not labeled.
Sanitizer bucket shall be located to prevent contamination.
Food employee wears unapproved ring during preparation.
Utensil was water is 105F; shall be 110F or more.
No waste receptacle for hand-wash sinks. Shall be provided for each hand-wash sink if disposable paper towels are used for hand drying.
Dumpsters sit on ground. 
Floor in kitchen is cracked.

Observations:
 
No Certified Food Protection Manager present. Employee on site shall have passed an approved food handling class test prior to January 2014.
Food employee touches soiled utensils before touching clean glassware and before scooping ice.
No hand-drying device in ladies restroom. 
Employee prepares food while wearing rings.
No chlorine test strips provided.
Remove peel-off packaging from work/storage area of stainless steel table.
Hinged lid on waste receptacle in ladies restroom is up.

Observations:
 
No Certified Food Protection Manager on site. Shall be certified prior to January 2014.
No hand-drying device for hand-wash sink in stall ladies room. 
Cloth covering pan of lasagna.
Several large buckets of marinara sauce in walk-in made yesterday range in temperature from 44-47F.
Bruschetta in top of prep refrigerator is 66F; moved to bottom of refrigerator.
Few foods have not been date marked.
Food employee is wearing a watch.
Wet wiping cloth on cutting board.
Floor drains in side room are clogged causing extremely slow drainage of water generated by hand washing in one sink.
Dumpster lid is up and doors are open. Lids and doors of dumpster shall be closed.
Wood on wall in beverage area is bare and rough.
