From the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office:

On Sunday around 8:15 p.m., deputies began pursuing a suspect driving a Dodge Status near NC 11/55 (Skinners bypass area).

The suspect - Clayton Moore, of 4231 Beechnut Drive, Kinston - was being pursued because he was suspected of stealing a Toyota Corolla and purse earlier in the day.

The suspect was pursued down N.C. 11 to N.C. 55 west.  Deputies deployed stop sticks on N.C. 55 near Sandy Bottom and were able to deflate the vehicle’s tires.  Pursuit continued down N. Croom Bland Road, about one mile from N.C. 55.  The suspect struck a deputy's vehicle and the chase ended.

The deputy's vehicle sustained minor damages.  Moore refused to exit the vehicle and was removed. The suspect was found to be intoxicated.  The license tag of the vehicle Moore was suspected of stealing was in the vehicle.

Moore has been charged with DWI, larceny of the pocketbook, felony larceny of the Toyota Corolla, felony eluding and multiple traffic violations.  Moore’s vehicle was seized under the “run and you’re done” eluding law.

No bond or other information is available at this time. The N.C. State Highway Patrol assisted in the chase.
