Learn the latest hair market trends

Hair Prophecy In’tl. of Kinston is having its eighth annual Hair & Fashion Educational Weekend, which raises funds toward its future stylists scholarship fund. This year, the show is expanding to a two-day event, adding more barber education and a new natural hair session, which is one of the latest trends in the hair market.

The weekend will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Kinston-Lenoir County Performing Arts Center, 2601 N. Queen St. A live hair battle will open the show, where cosmetology students and barbers, all on one stage, will battle upon the theme “When Hair-nimals Attack.” Cosmetology experts will judge the competition.

Following the battle, local modeling troops, dance groups, professional hair salons and stylists will take the stage to give a taste of what they have to offer. The event is open to the public. Advance tickets are $10.

Starting at 9 a.m. Monday, a full educational line up will be offered at the Hampton Inn. Students can choose from 12 two-hour class sessions given throughout the day, including barbering, hair color, hair cutting, makeup, natural hair, weave, chemistry and business.

To purchase tickets or for more information, contact 252-527-0499 or hpHairWeekend.com.
