JACKSONVILLE — Police believe an elderly woman who was killed nearly a week ago in Jacksonville was the victim of an armed robbery. They are still looking for leads on the suspect and vehicle.
Police are looking for a four-door white Dodge Avenger that fled the parking area of TNT Bingo, located at 205 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, on Sunday at around 7:42 p.m. after a shooting that killed Kim Hua Flournoy, 65, of Jacksonville.
“Ms. Flournoy was entering the establishment when she was killed,” Sgt. Mark Ketchum, Investigations Supervisor, stated. “We believe she was the target of an armed robbery.”
Earlier this week, Jacksonville Public Safety Director Mike Yaniero announced the Jacksonville Police Department will match the $2,500 reward offered by CrimeStoppers of Onslow County for information leading to the arrest of those involved in this incident, the release said. On Friday, it was announced an acquaintance of the family was offering an additional $10,000.
This is a possible reward of up to $15,000.
The shooting suspect is described as a black male, wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black gloves, a press release from the JPD stated. The subject was wearing white athletic-type shoes with a black stripe design.
“Detectives have been working around the clock processing forensic evidence collected in the case, conducting interviews and following all leads,” Yaniero stated.
Flournoy was the widow of a Marine; she celebrated her 65th birthday two days before her death. She was the mother of two grown children and grandmother of one.
“We feel confident that there are individuals in the community with information about the suspects who took Ms. Flournoy’s life,” Ketchum stated. “We ask that anyone with information to contact the JPD or CrimeStoppers.”
