South Lenoir's boys continue to roll.
The Blue Devils improved to 3-0 in the East Central 2A Conference and won their fourth straight game overall in a 47-35 victory over host Topsail on Friday.
South Lenoir freshman Jonte Midgette scored 17 points, had seven rebounds and added three steals in the win. He also went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Dion Jones had 11 points, four rebounds and three steals and Jaquan Wooten added nine points and seven rebounds for a Blue Devils team that opened what was a three-point lead at halftime into a double-digit lead in the fourth period.
Blue Devils leading scorer Ishmael Baldwin was held to four points, but he did had 11 rebounds and three blocks.
South Lenoir (7-4, 3-0) hosts Jacksonville Northside, which is also 3-0 in the league after it defeated Croatan 75-56 on Friday, on Tuesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
SOUTH LENOIR 44, TOPSAIL 27: Heather West scored 18 points and the Blue Devils built a double-digit lead in the first half and sustained it in the East Central 2A Conference win.
West added three assists and four steals, Marquia Suddeth had eight points, four rebounds and three blocks, Demeyia Adams scored seven points, had eight rebounds, three assists and four steals as South Lenoir improved to 8-3 overall, 2-1 in league play. The Blue Devils led 21-10 at halftime and 31-18 after the third quarter.
South Lenoir has won three straight and six of its last seven games.
