LA GRANGE — A man is now in jail after an anonymous tip led deputies to his home.
Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Javier Gonzales Perez, 28, following an investigation at his residence on the 5000 block of Toms Path Sunday. He’s charged with possession with intent to sell or distribute a controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
“We went up there, got consent to search the residence, went and searched the residence, and found six small bags of marijuana, a small bag of cocaine, and other paraphernalia — scales, smoking pipes and everything else,” LCSO Maj. Ryan Dawson said.
The exact volume and street value of the drugs seized is not known at this time.
According to the reporting deputy’s narrative, deputies smelled marijuana in the air after entering the house and saw a small bag of marijuana on a heater. After that, the deputies detained Perez and continued searching the residence.
In addition to the marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, the report lists deputies also seized a Sears 2200 rifle, a red sword and two mobile phones.
Perez remains in the Lenoir County Jail on $200,000 bond.
