LA GRANGE — The art work of Lawrence Durham will be on display beginning Friday for a month-long showing at the La Grange Arts Council. A free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday will open the exhibit.
Durham is a professional artist from Dudley who specializes in original oil and acrylic paintings, landscapes, seascapes, genre paintings, portraits, sculptures, African American Art and digital photography. He has produced and permanently installed numerousbaptistery murals and other religious subject matter in churches throughout North Carolina.
Durham is a retired educational specialist from Cherry Hospital’s Riverbend School in Goldsboro. He is a graduate of N.C. Central University in Durham, where he majored in art education and fine arts. He also has completed post-graduate work at ECU and at Duke University in advanced painting, advanced sculpturing and graphic design.
Durham’s work will be exhibited throughout the month of May.
