A truck in the house, an SUV in the flower bed.
According to State Trooper M.S. Turner, a man driving a mower merged into a lane containing a white GMC Yukon, forcing the SUV off the road. That led to it knocking a Ford F-150 into a house before crashing through a fence, losing a tire in the process.
Turner said he didn’t immediately have identification of the couple in the SUV, who were transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital. No one in the house was harmed.
Sandy Sanderson’s father and daughter live at the residence, and she showed up to survey the damage when she heard about the wreck.
“It’s kind of scary. I live two doors down, and my husband said, ‘There’s been a wreck right outside,’ ” Sanderson said. “I said, ‘Where?’ And he said, ‘Right out there in front of your daddy’s house.’ So, I walked down to see what was going on and when I got here, I could not believe what I saw.”
Sanderson said the plan is to leave the scene as-is until her daughter and the insurance adjuster can work out the details.
Turner said Antonio Hernandez, the driver of the tractor, was cited for unsafe lane change.
