History curator addresses Rotarians

Andrew Duppstadt, assistant curator of education for Historic Sites in Eastern North Carolina, recently spoke to the Kinston Evening Rotary Club about the moving and opening of the historic CSS Ram Neuse to downtown Kinston.

The Queen Street property was acquired in 2003 to eventually house the boat in a controlled environment for preservation purposes. The 36,789-square-foot museum houses the Ram Neuse in a two-level presentation room with information stations telling and showing what the boat was like originally. It also will display thousands of Civil War artifacts and expects to be fully open soon.

Evening Rotary meets 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the House of Wang.
