A man was shot in the stomach at about 8:24 p.m. Friday.
The shooting took place outside the Simon Bright Apartments, 800 E. Caswell St.
Jaquel Dixon, 19, was found shot and lying on the ground in front of the apartments, Kinston Public Safety Director Bill Johnson said.
Dixon was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
The Public Safety Department had no suspects at press time.
“Our investigation people,” Johnson said, “are still trying to investigate some leads.”
