In search of its second straight state boys golf title, Parrott Academy sits 10 shots back of the leader after firing a 315 on Monday on the first day of the NCISAA state 3A championship tournament at Bryan Park in Greensboro.
Wes Simmons leads the Patriots with a 73 after 18 holes, followed by Riley Davis (76), Matthew Simmons (81) and Jack Sides (85). The final 18 holes will be played today.
The Patriots won the 2A title last year, their fifth in school history.
“(It’s) not an ideal spot but definitely not out of it considering some of our guys were a little off today,” Parrott coach Rickie Killinger told The Free Press in a text message.
“Gotta get out there tomorrow and get some good scoring going early and finish strong.”
