The Queen Street water line project may be finishing up sooner than the anticipated May 31 completion date. The road between Emma Webb Road and Summit Avenue may reopen a week early to through traffic, Steve Miller, assistant director of Kinston’s Public Services, said. The completion date is now moved to May 24, depending on weather, he said. The line has been replaced and tested. All that remains now is to fill in the area over the line and repave the surface. Drivers should continue to use the detours between East Vernon Avenueand Old Snow Hill Road.
