The Lions Water Adventure Park held its ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning, with hundreds of dignitaries, citizens and children in attendance.
Following speeches from Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Director Bill Ellis, Woodmen of the World National Director Danny Rice, Jerry Kanter and others, the ribbon was cut — and children from Arendell Parrott Academy were the first to jump in the pools and go down the three water slides at the park.
Also on hand for a ceremonial first slide down the fastest tube were Skip Waters and Brian North from WCTI ABC-12, Bryan Hanks from The Free Press and Lions Industries for the Blind Employee of the Year Oscar Lopez.
