Three generations of dancers will present ‘Dance 2013’ at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Grainger Hill Performing Arts Center, 300 Park Ave., Kinston. All performers are students of Nora Parker, owner, teacher and artistic director of L’ Academie De Danse in Kinston and Winterville studios.
Marjorie Dunn, a 78-year-old student, was Winterville’s first dance instructor teaching dance in the 1950s while in her teens. Parker has been dancing for 43 years and says dance is her life and her first love. Courtney Baker, a recreational therapist at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, grew up dancing and wanted dance to become a part of her life once again.
All three dancers realize what dance can do for you physically and mentally. The movement is precise with split second timing to music that enables you to express your emotions. They will be performing to ‘Taking a Chance on Love.’
The next generation of dancers will be performing to ‘City Lights.’ The students are Elizabeth Majette, Annika Allen, Alyssia Howard, Holly Holder, Jane Fields, Ashley Scarborough and Katie Frank.
Come join all generations of dancers from L’ Academie De Danse for ‘Dance 2013’ and find out why it is so much fun and great for the body and soul. There is no charge for admission.
