Historical group honors member

The May Lenoir County Historical Association dinner meeting was highlighted by several significant events. The National Sojourners, dressed in colonial period uniforms, presented a program about the early history of the United States.

Dr. June Rose was presented the 2013 Outstanding Achievement Award for his hard work and service to the Historical Association by Past President Adrian King. Rose has served as president of the Association and has been helpful in keeping historic Harmony Hall, owned by the Association, a vibrant part of local history.

President John Marston honored Ann Brinson for her performance as site manager at Harmony Hall. The site at 109 E. King St. was built in 1772 and was once the defacto Capital of North Carolina. The Association has maintained the house and kept it in its historic condition. The public is encouraged to be involved in keeping the house as a crown jewel in the community for generations to come.
