The Jones County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Tuesday after uncovering 3.12 pounds of marijuana and more than $7,000 cash in his vehicle.
Jeffrey Allen Pettigrew Jr., 25 of 123 Nguyen Lane, was charged with multiple counts, including possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones County investigators executed a search warrant Tuesday, finding additional drug-related evidence.
Pettigrew, who made bond after being jailed, is expected to face more charges.
Jones County deputies discovered the crime after conducting an unrelated investigation Tuesday. They saw a 2005 Ford Van, Pettigrew’s vehicle, driving “in an erratic and suspicious manner,” according to a JCSO press release.
Deputies found Pettigrew’s license suspended and noticed his extreme nervousness upon contact with him.
He allegedly displayed, “visible rapid pulse in his neck and a loss of skin color,” said Captain Justin Eimer, JSCO Chief of Operations.
“These are signs of extreme nervousness,” he said. “We believe him to be a drug dealer.”
