(AP) -- North Carolina's Highway Patrol says one person was killed after a freight train slammed into a pickup truck near a railroad crossing.
Authorities had not released the identity of the victim killed late Saturday night in Dunn near a grocery-store chain's regional distribution center. The road crossing the railroad track had been closed for repairs for about a week and a barricade was marking the work zone.
The CSX train was traveling from North Bergen, N.J., to Jacksonville, Fla., and had 52 rail cars.
