Rotarians updated on European trip

Jacob Warner, a local attorney, recently addressed the Kinston Evening Rotary Club about a mission trip to Eastern Europe.

Introduced by Imelda Pate, a Club member, Warner joined six others on the mission experience, including the Rev. Jason McKnight, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church. While in Czechoslovakia, they shared the gospel in an area that is 85 percent atheist.

Evening Rotary meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays at the House of Wang.

The Community Council for the Arts is offering an opportunity for beginners, intermediate and advanced band students from across the county to rehearse together for a weeklong summer band camp.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon June 24 -28, at the arts center, 400 N. Queen St., and a light snack will be provided daily. A $10 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot; the $20 total can be paid in person at the arts center or at the website.

Instructors Charles Richberg and Jennifer Sinclair will help students have a chance to perform with others on their ability level that they might not meet otherwise, and continue to build their musical repertoire. Attendees must bring their own instrument each day.
