An employee of a Kinston charity allegedly made off with and pawned $3,100 of its property before police arrested him June 18.
Aaron Dale Parker Jr., 30, was both working and living at The Harvest Connection, a disaster relief ministry, on the 2600 block of West Vernon Avenue.
Over a period of time, authorities say he stole a generator valued at $700, a chainsaw valued at $600, an amplifier valued at $600, a pressure washer valued at $350, a custom handmade guitar valued at $300, a Fender guitar valued at $200, a table saw valued at $200 and a sump pump valued at $150.
“They discovered several items missing — he doesn’t have a driver’s license, and he was driving a truck, and they knew he wasn’t supposed to,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “So, they went to look, and found certain things missing. They checked pawn shops and discovered various items he had taken and pawned.”
According to the arrest report, Parker was under the influence of drugs when he was arrested.
Parker was taken to the Lenoir County Detention Center and jailed under a $100,000 bond. He faces eight counts each of felony larceny by employee and felony obtaining property under false pretense.
Parker’s next due in Lenoir County District Court on July 8.
