It may have rained on their parade, but that didn’t wash away the American pride at Deep Run’s fourth annual Independence Day parade on Saturday. Instead of waving flags, many in the crowd donned red, white and blue umbrellas and cheered on as the South Lenoir marching band, law enforcement vehicles and local dignitaries passed by. Following the conclusion of the parade, those in attendance walked to the Deep Run Volunteer Fire Department to take part in the various activities, entertainment and food that was made available.
