UPDATE:

A man allegedly running a scam on area Wal-Marts is wanted by the Kinston Department of Public Safety.

Two pictures released by KDPS show the man — 36-year-old Greenville resident Renford Neal Harris — entering, then leaving, the Kinston Wal-Mart on West Vernon Avenue. The images collected from surveillance cameras show the man at the store on June 20 around 3 p.m.

Authorities claim he picks up receipts in the store parking lot, enters the store, finds the items on the receipt within the store, and then attempts to return the items in exchange for cash.

In a release, KDPS spokesman Woody Spencer said in addition to Kinston, Harris conducted the same operation at Wal-Marts in Greenville and Wilmington.

Police have taken out warrants on Harris for obtaining property under false pretence.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the crimes is urged to contact KDPS at 252-939-3193.
