Church honors graduates
High school and college graduates who are members of Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church recently were recognized by the church for their accomplishments. Each graduate received flowers and was presented with a special gift.
High school graduates Abigail Shimer, Emilee Contreras and Mikal Burke all received scholarships from the church. In addition, Shimer received the Charlie C. Harris Jr. Memorial Scholarship, Contreras received the Nick and Lucy DeMartino Memorial Scholarship, and Burke received the Dr. Don DeWitt Memorial Scholarship.
Sonda Boles, Yvonne Jones and Chris Rogerson serve on the Scholarship Committee.
Lenoir County Farmer’s Market news
The Lenoir County Farmer’s Market will celebrate 2nd Saturday today, beginning at 9 a.m. Bring friends and family to welcome newcomers and visitors to Kinston and enjoy a free complimentary breakfast.

Meet the newest vendor, Adele, and her special soaps and candles. Mark your calendar for the next cooking demonstration by Pat Walston and her culinary students at Lenoir Community College. They will be preparing recipes with fresh vegetables Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m., and serving samples.
Porter Farm, TC Smith Produce, Bruce Coley, Bill Tilghman, Putnam Family Farm, Upham Homestead, and William L. Davis and Sons Produce will bring a variety of fresh produce to the market today.
Expect to find heirloom tomatoes, regular tomatoes, peas, okra, cucumbers, sweet corn, baby celery, string beans, blueberries, blackberries, pointed head and napa cabbage, beets, lettuce, broccoli, green and golden zucchini, pattypan squash, yellow squash, bok choy, the last of the strawberries, dinosaur and regular kale, mustard, a variety of other leafy greens, spring onions, turnips, radishes, Georgia or South Carolina peaches, local watermelon and whatever else has ripened enough to bring to market.
