The Kinston Department of Public Safety picked up a man on July 10 for whom it had searched for more than a month.
Demarcus Megail Jones, 22, Kinston, was booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a warrant sworn out for his arrest on June 7 for a crime allegedly committed in April.
“It occurred on April 16, at about 11:46 in the evening,” KDPS spokesman Woody Spencer said. “It looks like Mr. Jones and some others entered the home of (the victim). Got into the house at gunpoint, and then stole $1,400 in cash, a $350 laptop, $1,150 (in jewelry) and an iPhone 5.”
Jones is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, second-degree kidnapping and assault by pointing a gun. He received a $60,000 bond.
Jones served prison time from Oct. 22, 2009, to Feb. 21, 2010, for attempted common-law robbery. He’s expected in Lenoir County District Court on the current charges Wednesday.
