Sadequin Alif Anderson, 18, already facing gun charges from a March arrest, was arrested along with Koreyevel Tony Barnes, 20, by Kinston police early Sunday morning for possession of a stolen firearm.
“At 2:33 a.m. on Sunday the 14th, at 912 E. Highland, (officers) reported to shots fired,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “Officers observed Sadequin Anderson and Koeryevel Barnes leaving the area. Both subjects were detained at a business at 1311 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
“Two pistols were discovered approximately 20 feet away from where the two men were detained,” Spencer said.
Police recovered from the scene a .40-caliber pistol and a 9mm gun.
Anderson received a $75,000 bond and Barnes received a $50,000 bond for the alleged crime.
While police haven’t said if the two incidents were related, someone fired a gun at Anderson’s home early Saturday morning.
“(The victim) heard shots about 2:40 a.m., but didn’t think anything of it, and discovered bullet holes in her window later that morning,” Spencer said.
Anderson is still due in Lenoir County District Court on Sept. 30 on charges from a March incident that rose off a shots-fired call. He faces possession of a weapon of mass destruction; possessing, selling or buying a gun with an altered serial number; and possession of a handgun by a minor — he was 17 at the time.
