A favor for an ex-girlfriend allegedly turned into a burglary opportunity for a Kinston resident.

On July 20, law enforcement officers arrested Ricco Thomas Taylor, 30, on one count each of felony larceny and felony larceny of a firearm.

“The victim reported she let her ex-boyfriend, by the name of Ricco Taylor, stay in her house … to keep her dogs while she went to work,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “When she returned, there were a bunch of items that were missing.”

Taylor’s accused of taking a PlayStation 3 valued at $750, a $200 42-inch television, a $100 pump-action shotgun, $60 in clothing, a mobile phone valued at $40, and a $34 DVD player.

Taylor served from July 2006 to June 2012 in state prison for robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.

He was booked into the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond and is due in Lenoir County District Court on Aug. 5.
