LA GRANGE — A 17-year-old is in the Lenoir County Detention Facility after allegedly shooting at a man on West King Street on Friday.
According to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, Terrance Outlaw Jr. was having an argument with the victim when, witnesses told deputies, Outlaw pointed his gun at the other man’s head and fired. The victim, getting out of the way, injured his head on concrete after falling down.
Deputies recovered a small-caliber bullet casing at the scene.
“This suspect elevated a verbal altercation to a potentially deadly incident,” Sheriff Chris Hill said in a statement. “Just by chance the victim was not shot and killed. The shooting also endangered those who were in close proximity to the incident. My deputies are working to reduce this type of criminal activity through proactive enforcement of all laws in the Town of La Grange and Lenoir County.”
Deputies found Outlaw walking down the street shortly after responding to the incident.
He’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, possession of a firearm by a minor and discharging a firearm within the city limits of La Grange.
Outlaw received a $121,000 bond.
