Employee rewarded for customer service
Evelyn Herring, a registered nurse with the Lenoir County Health Department, has been named the most recent Lenoir County Smiles recipient. Herring oversees the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control program at the Health Department and is a breast cancer survivor herself.
The weekly winners are chosen by recommendations from the community, receive a small gift and are pictured in the Sunday edition of The Free Press, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This is the eighth year of the program, which began in 2006 to foster “good, friendly service with a smile.” The program is sponsored by Lenoir County Tourism and The Free Press.
