HB392 — Arrest Warrants and Drug Screening for Public Assistance: Requires county departments of social services to verify whether an applicant for or recipient of temporary assistance to needy family benefits or food and nutrition services benefits is a fleeing felon or a probation or parole violator by interagency cooperation and information sharing and requiring drug screening and testing for certain applicants and recipients of Work First program assistance. Introduced by Rep. Dean Arp, R-Union.

HB589 — Election Reform: Establishes the Voter Information Verification Act to promote the electoral process through education and increased registration of voters and by requiring voters to provide photo identification before voting to protect the right of each registered voter to cast a secure vote with reasonable security measures that confirm voter identity as accurately as possible without restriction, and to further reform the election laws. Introduced by Rep. Harry Warren, R-Rowan.
