POLLOCKSVILLE —U.S. Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., will be making a Jones County visit today.
Jones, who has been a representative for the 3rd District since 1995, will be at Pollocksville Town Hall at 6 p.m. to meet constituents individually, make a brief statement and answer questions from those in attendance.
Pollocksville Mayor Jay Bender had been trying to get the congressman to make his way back to the town since Jones County was folded completely in the 3rd Congressional District in the last redistricting.
“I had talked to him on a previous occasion, and asked him to come to Pollocksville and pay the town a visit,” Bender said. “This is the first time in about 20 years all of Jones County has been represented by one congressman, so this was a great time to have him here.”
The event will be free to the general public and all are encouraged to attend.
