N.C. man gets 30 years for making child pornography

(AP) — A 34-year-old North Carolina man will spend 30 years in federal prison for making and sharing child pornography of an infant.

Bruce Wayne Lorette of Leland was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Raleigh after earlier pleading guilty to a single count of producing child pornography. Prosecutors said Lorette was first charged in October after undercover officers traced him to offers of child porn made on an internet file sharing site. Investigators then executed a search warrant on his home and determined he had victimized an infant.

Agents from both the FBI and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation worked the case. The investigation was part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, a national program aimed at ensuring that criminals exploiting children are effectively prosecuted and sent to prison.
