A Kinston man who wrecked his car on Aug. 3 was also sought for a number of crimes in Raleigh.

“During a motor vehicle collision at 201 Plaza Blvd., on Aug. 3, shortly after 2 p.m., while (the officer) ran the information on this one driver, it came up that he was wanted in Wake County on multiple felony charges,” said Woody Spencer, spokesman for the Kinston Department of Public Safety. “He tried to run, but he was caught after a short foot chase. He was served with five felony warrants.”

Included among those warrants on Rashad Marquez Perry, 23, were outstanding charges for kidnapping, motor vehicle theft and robbery. He also netted a Lenoir County charge of misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Perry spent February-October 2012 in state prison for assault with intent to inflict serious bodily injury, and did a November 2009-July 2010 stint for common law robbery.

He was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond.
