Students accept LCC awards

Lenoir Community College held its Awards Day program in March, at the end of the spring semester.

During the event, students were recognized for their accomplishments during the spring 2013 semester and were presented awards.

Learn to market a business

The Lenoir Community College Small Business Center, the Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce and the Greene County Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a free seminar, The Art of Marketing a Small Business, from 9 a.m. to noon today at the Kinston Enterprise Center, Room 313, 327 N. Queen St.

Steve Carver will be the presenter and registration will be held 30 minutes before the seminar.

Knowing how to develop a solid marketing and advertising plan is a skill that all small business owners and entrepreneurs need to develop. This workshop will cover many aspects of surveys, targeted advertising for profit centers and customer groups, and long-term marketing budgeting.

During the workshop, Carver will consider each attendee’s business goals and current situations to provide information and strategies that each entrepreneur can implement immediately to improve customer traffic, sales and profit potential.

Check out the Girl Scouts

A Scout Night is planned at 7 p.m. today at Lions Water Adventure, 2602 W. Vernon Ave. This event is planned to help give all girls, K-12th grades, a chance to learn more about the Girl Scout organization, particularly the Girl Scouts of North Carolina Coastal Pines.

Girl Scouting can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal setting, the spirit of teamwork and the thrill of accomplishment.

Volunteers also are needed to share expertise, skills, interests, life experiences and personal time. Caring adults work collectively with other volunteers and staff to nurture each girl’s individuality and leadership qualities.

For more information, contact Jennifer Smith at 252-560-5860 or nccoastalpines.org.
