(AP) -- Tropical Storm Erin is moving away from the Cape Verde Islands in the eastern Atlantic, and it's expected to strengthen over the next two days. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Thursday that the storm's maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph.
There are no watches or warnings in effect. An earlier warning for the Cape Verde Islands has been canceled. The storm is centered about 115 miles west-southwest of Brava and is moving west-northwest at 15 mph. Forecasters expect the storm to continue in that general direction over the next couple of days.
