Alexandra Alyse Fuller of Cary and John Alexander Thompson of Decatur, Ga., were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 22, 2013, at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh. The Rev. Mark Blanton was the officiating minister.
Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Kennedy Fuller of Cary.
She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Beatrice, who lived in Beaufort, S.C., and the late Dr. and Mrs. H. Fleming Fuller, who lived in Kinston.
A graduate of Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, she completed her master’s degree in gerontology from UNC Charlotte. She is employed by Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Thompson of Gainesville, Ga.
He is the grandson of Mr. and Dr. E. Alexander Taylor of Gainesville, Ga., and Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Leta L. Thompson of Kalkaska, Mich., and the late Richard N. Thompson.
A graduate of ASU with a B.A. in anthropology, he completed his master’s degree in history from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, Ga., and is pursuing his doctoral degree in world history at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Following a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Atlanta.
The bride wore a Mikaella bridal A-line gown made of rich champagne-colored satin and delicate leaver’s lace. The bodice was adorned with pearls and Swarovski crystals that emphasized the sweetheart neckline. The pockets in the skirt showed off the bride’s playful nature as the sash tied elegantly in a bow at the back, trailing down the chapel-length train.
She wore a candlelight tulle fingertip-length veil trimmed with ribbon. Her bouquet included blue and white hydrangeas, yellow Gerber daisies and miniature white lilies. Her great-grandmother’s handkerchief tucked into the bouquet for remembrance and good luck.
Catherine Fuller of Raleigh, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Leta Ann Thompson of Lawrenceville, Ga., sister of the groom; Bethany Remington of Madrid, Spain; Beth Baker of Cary; Nancy King of South Mills; and Sydney Jones Joyner of Chapel Hill.
Jordan Byers of Atlanta served as best man.
Groomsmen were Vassa Falls of Richlands; Brett Barger of Dahlonega, Ga.; Alex Julian of Cummings, Ga.; Kevin Grubb of Gainesville, Ga.; and Kristopher Snyder of Morrisville.
Wedding music was provided by N.C. Symphony members, Anita Burroughs-Price, celtic harp and Mara Shea, violin.
The wedding was directed by Morgan Greer. Program attendants were Andria Shafer of Cary and Daniel Remington of Belmont.
Reception/parties
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the Iris Cafe of the N.C. Museum of Art.
On April 20, a miscellaneous bridal shower was given by friends of the mother of the bride, Kathy Taylor and Kathy Remington, at the Taylor home in Cary.
On June 1, a couple’s shower was hosted by Leta Ann Thompson, sister of the groom, of Lawrenceville, Ga.
On June 21, the groom’s parents, John and Terry Thompson, hosted a pig pickin’ barbecue rehearsal dinner at Pullen Park in Raleigh.
On June 22, a bridal luncheon was hosted by the bride’s aunt, “Honey” Fuller of Kinston, at KoMoKoMo Restaurant in Cary.
On June 23, a brunch for out-of-town guests was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cary, hosted by the bride’s cousins, Marilyn Parker, Linda Katz and Ann Young.
