A Kinston woman found her pet cat had been shot in her yard Friday morning.
According to a report from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, she discovered her cat at around 6 a.m., and reported the incident to the LCSO later that morning.
“The victim reported to us that she found her cat, lying outside of her house — found it injured in her yard,” LCSO Maj. Ryan Dawson said. “She took it to the vet, and the vet took some X-rays on it, and that the cat had been shot. Where she lived at, someone had shot her — the victim could not give us any information about who had possibly done it or when it possibly happened.”
The crime happened in the 2000 block of Rufus Drive.
Dawson said there are no suspects at this time but the case was referred to a detective for further investigation.
