Crime reports

The following information was proved by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office and the Kinston Dept. of Public Safety:

On July 23, a representative of White Construction reported the theft of 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel from a construction site on County Line Road, La Grange. The fuel is valued at $3,500.


On July 24, a representative of Family Dollar on North McLewean Street, Kinston, reported someone attempted to steal three packages of cocoa butter soap valued at $5.28 (recovered). The incident was cleared by an arrest.


On July 24, a woman reported a stranger rubbed against her buttocks in a grocery store on West Vernon Avenue, Kinston.


On July 24, a man reported someone stole his scooter. The incident occurred at a residence on Harding Avenue, Kinston. The scooter is valued at $767.


On July 24, a representative of Carolina Environmental Contracting reported someone damaged the windshield of a tractor trailer with rocks. Damages were estimated at $300.


On July 24, a woman on Harding Avenue, Kinston, reported being assaulted by one of her children. No injuries were reported.

On July 24, a representative of Walmart on West Vernon Avenue, Kinston, reported a suspect concealed/stole the following: Two headphone set pack valued at $9.76; an Apple auxiliary cable valued at $4.88; two packages of 60 N ear valued at $9.76; four packages of SP Nail Laq valued at $15.92; two pairs of mesh shorts valued at $13.92; a scarf valued at $6.97.


On July 25, a man reported the theft of a black Gator Scooter valued at $1,000. The incident occurred at a parking lot on West Vernon Avenue, Kinston.


On July 25, a woman on South Orion Street, Kinston, reported someone punched her in the face, grabbed her by the neck and harassed her via telephone.


On July 25, a representative of St. John's Village Apartments on East Highland Avenue, Kinston, reported someone damaged a glass door. Damages were estimated at $100.


On July 29, a restaurant on U.S. 70 West, La Grange, reported someone passed a counterfeit $10 bill. Prosecution was declined.


On July 29, a man on Tower Hill Road, Kinston, reported someone broke into a dwelling at his residence and stole the following: A Suzuki dirt bike valued at $3,000; a Scout Rokon ATV valued at $5,000 (recovered).


On July 30, a man on Tower Hill Road, Kinston, reported the theft of a John Deere lawn mower valued at $1,500.


On July 30, a man on Mary Ann Drive, Kinston, reported someone broke into his vehicle.


On July 30, a man reported someone attacked him on East Highland Avenue, Kinston.


On July 30, a woman on Hugo Church Road, Grifton, reported someone broke into her residence and stole the following: Farm/garden vehicles/implement valued at $1,200; a 1986 Nissan valued at $600; a 1979 Chevrolet valued at $950; a wireless router valued at $80; pots/pans valued at $500 and a financial card.

On July 30, a member of the Kinston Dept. of Public Safety reported the arrest of a suspect in possession of the following: A .380 caliber handgun valued at $150, two hydrocodone pills valued at $20; a wood pipe valued at $10.


On July 30, a man reported an acquaintance attempted to strike him with a vehicle. The incident occurred on the 600 block of Mitchell Street, Kinston.


On July 30, a woman on Mitchell Wooten Court, Kinston, reported an acquaintance threatened her via Facebook and text messaging.


On July 30, a woman on Rhem Street, Kinston, reported her boyfriend grabbed her by the neck and shoved her to the floor. Minor injuries were reported.


On July 30, a man on Tara Drive, Kinston, reported getting into a fight with his ex-girlfriend. No injuries were reported.


On July 30, a woman on Mitchell Wooten Court, Kinston, reported someone fired a gun into her vehicle. Damages to the vehicle were estimated at $300. A possible 9mm projectile was found at the scene.


On Aug. 2, a man reported someone shot him in the foot, shot into an occupied dwelling and shot into an unoccupied vehicle. Damages to a 2006 Hyundai were estimated at $5,000; damages to a 1994 Ford Crown Victoria; damages to two glass windows were estimated at $200; damages to two doors were estimated at $400.


On Aug. 2, a man on East Blount Street, Kinston, reported suspect(s) robbed and assaulted victim with a handgun. Severe lacerations were reported. A telephone valued at $25 was stolen.


On Aug. 2, a man reported someone knocked him off of a moped on the 500 block of North East Street, Kinston. The assault resulted in severe lacerations. The moped - valued at $500 - was stolen (recovered), as was a touch-screen phone valued at $50.
