(AP) -- North Carolina authorities say a man who drove away from an earlier collision was struck and killed a short time later while walking along a highway.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says 61-year-old Jerry Glynn Grier of Richlands hit the rear end of a vehicle over the weekend in suburban Jacksonville and then drove away. The patrol says sometime later he abandoned his car. About 90 minutes after the first accident he was then struck and killed after walking in front of a van on U.S. 258.
Patrol Sgt. R.E. Dudley says the driver of the van was not hurt.
