The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary recently awarded its 2013 scholarships, based on community service, academic achievement and future volunteerism.
Students receiving the awards are Justin Shimer, $250; Anthony Dove, $250; and Jacquelyn Starr, $500.
Shimer, a North Lenoir High School graduate, is the son of Sandy and Jessica Shimer and attends N.C. State University. Dove, a North Lenoir graduate, is the son of Sherwin and Debra Speller and attends ECU. Starr, the daughter of Robin and Pamela Starr, is a Lenoir County Early College High School graduate attending Asbury University.
Salvation Army Captain Sara Kratz and Rosa Ann Chaney, co-president of the auxiliary, presented the scholarships.
