With the assistance of the Kinston Department of Public Safety, a fugitive sought by the U.S. Marshal’s office is now behind bars.
On Wednesday, officers with the narcotics division of the KDPS assisted the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force in the apprehension of James Tyrone Sparks III. Sparks was being sought for a post-release violation by probation and parole officers when he fled a traffic stop on foot on Aug. 17.
Sparks, 22, was found hiding in Kinston’s Carver Courts on Wednesday; he was on parole for a 2010 assault with a deadly weapon conviction.
