The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is warning residents in the Woodington area, as wanted suspect Curtis Darnell Williams is still at large.
Lenoir County and Duplin County deputies, along with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol air unit, searched for Williams for hours, before calling off the search around 5 p.m. due to exhaustion.
“At about 5 p.m., we broke down the perimeter, which was somewhere south of Woodington School,” Lenoir County Sheriff Chris Hill said. “Folks living in the southern and eastern areas around the school need to be aware.
“Obviously, he could be further north, but we believe he might be around the area between New Hope Road and Woodington Middle. If residents see him, they should call the 911 Center and report.”
Williams broke into a vehicle by Woodington Middle School and stole a handgun, fleeing into a wooded for a search around the school, around Highway 258, after being confronted by the victim.
Williams, 19, is described as a black male with a very light complexion and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a checkered shirt and either jeans or shorts. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone who sees Williams to immediately report any sightings to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office dispatch center.
